A Box at the Theatre des Italiens

A lodge at the Théâtre des Italiens (French: Une loge aux Italiens) is the title of a painting by Eva Gonzalès, the only pupil Manet ever hired. This work, in which the influence of her teacher can clearly be recognized, is one of her best known. She painted it in 1874 and exhibited it five years later at the Paris salon, where it was enthusiastically received. Today, the painting is part of the collection of the Musee d'Orsay in Paris.
