Prophet Ezekiel

Prophet Ezekiel

1458 - Painting

The Prophet Ezekiel is a fresco (193 cm at the base) by Piero della Francesca e aiuti, part of the Stories of the True Cross in the main chapel of the Basilica of San Francesco in Arezzo, dating back to 1458-1466. It is located in the upper register of the central wall, to the left of the central window and makes pendant with the Prophet Jeremiah on the opposite side. Ezekiel in particular was painted mostly by the assistant Giovanni di Piamonte, as evidenced by the dry and graphic chiaroscuro of the curls, or the approximate shade of the drapery of the cloak. The drawing is however attributed to the master.
