Landscape with Trees and Roots

Landscape with Trees and Roots

1700 - 1603 - Print - 20cm x 12.1cm

Landscape with Trees and Roots is a print created by Roelant Savery between 1603 and 1700.

The artwork depicts a dense forest scene dominated by large, gnarled trees and their extensive root systems. A significant portion of the image focuses on a massive fallen tree trunk, its roots sprawling across the foreground. Light streams through the gaps in the canopy, illuminating parts of the forest floor and creating strong contrasts of light and shadow. The overall tone is dark and moody, characteristic of Savery's style. The print is held in the Groeningemuseum. The dimensions are 20cm x 12.1cm.
