On the beach is an oil painting by Finnish artist Alvar Cawén on paper from 1912. The painting measures 49×31 cm in size and is part of the collections of the Ateneum Art Museum, where it was acquired in 1970.
On the beach, people think of it as a timid work because of Cawén's memorable painting and the display of subjective experiences in it. In 1912, Cawén painted several arkadia subjects. Between 1911 and 1912, he had made a trip to Brittany, which also led to the creation of this utopian painting. In it, two women are on a sandy beach as the sun lights up the view yellow.
From 1905 to 1906, Matisse and Derain had similarly styled decorative aspirations as they painted their own paintings in their own paradise on the Shores of the Mediterranean in southern France. The topic itself is a familiar description of the abundance of the golden age, which is familiar to Homeros.
