St. Christina

St. Christina

1520 - Painting - 50.5cm x 72cm

The painting St. Christina is a 1520 artwork by an unknown author from the National Gallery Prague. The painting is 0.505 meter in width, and 0.72 meter in height.

The painting depicts St. Christina, a young woman with fair skin and reddish-blonde hair, adorned with a black headband with white dots. She is richly dressed in a green and gold patterned dress with black, intricately patterned sleeves. A thick gold chain with precious stones adorns her neck. She holds a white sheet of paper in her hands, seemingly reading from it. The text on the paper appears to be in Latin, written in blackletter script. The background of the painting is gold, and a fragment of a figure, possibly an angel, is visible in the upper left corner.
