
The portrait of Samuel Ward is a work by Joseph Wright of Derby in the collection of the Derby Museum and Art Gallery in England.Samuel Ward (1732-1820) owned some properties in Derby and Richmond, England. As a boy he acted as a taster for the Jacobite pretender Charles Edward Stuart, being rewarded with a diamond ring that is now in the collection of the Derby Museum and Art Gallery along with the portrait.
