Keep of Usk Castle

Keep of Usk Castle

1800 - Print - 7.5cm x 5.5cm

Keep of Usk Castle is a print created by William Byrne in 1800. It depicts the ruins of a stone tower, possibly a keep, set within a landscape of trees and shrubs. The tower shows significant damage and decay, with missing sections of wall and a visible opening that appears to be a doorway or window. Two small figures are visible near the base of the tower, providing a sense of scale. The style is reminiscent of a topographical drawing, with detailed rendering of the stonework and foliage. The print is held in the National Library of Wales. The artwork measures 7.5 cm in width and 5.5 cm in height.
