1835 - Painting - 28cm x 25cm

Painting, an 1835 painting by Adolph Tidemand, depicts the interior of a rustic pottery workshop.

Two men are shown working at their respective potter's wheels, which are simple wooden structures. One man is seated, seemingly shaping clay on his wheel, while the other appears to be engaged in a different task, possibly preparing or finishing pottery.

The workshop is dimly lit, with light streaming in from a window to the left, illuminating dust motes in the air. The walls are made of dark wood, and shelves hold various pottery pieces. The overall atmosphere is one of quiet industry and craftsmanship. The floor is wooden, and the scene is rendered with a focus on the textures and tones of the wood, clay, and the men's clothing. The painting's size is 0.29 meters wide and 0.25 meters high. It is part of the collection of the National Museum of Art, Architecture and Design.
