Portrait of the third wife

Portrait of the Third Wife is a painting executed by Giovanni Fattori in 1905 with the technique of oil on canvas. It is exhibited in the Giovanni Fattori Civic Museum in Livorno.

The Macchiaiolo painter depicted in this work his third wife Fanny Martinelli, whom he married after being widowed by Marianna Bigazzi. The two women were very good friends. Fanny Martinelli died in 1908, a few months before Fattori.

The work is signed and dated in the lower right corner.
