Dance (I)

La Danse I – or simply La Danse – is a painting by the French painter Henri Matisse in 1909 in Paris. This oil on canvas depicts dancers engaged in a round. It is kept at the Museum of Modern Art, New York, while a later and more accomplished version, Dance II, is part of the collections of the Hermitage Museum in St. Petersburg.
