Pulqueria gathering

Tertulia de pulquería is a 1851 painting by José Agustín Arrieta, characterized by its popular content. The painting has a costumbrist scene, which is an example of a visual construction of “the dangerous class”. Arrieta used to paint Mexican groups, as well as the customs of everyday life in Puebla in the 19th century. [1]
