
The Funeral of Atahualpa is an academicist painting by Peruvian artist Luis Montero, which develops the historical theme of the funeral of the last Inca emperor. It corresponds to a large oil on canvas, 420 x 600 cm, weighing approximately 200 kg. It was made in Florence between 1865 and 1867, being exhibited in Rio de Janeiro, Montevideo and Buenos Aires before arriving in Peru in 1868. Restored between 2010 and 2011, it is currently part of the permanent exhibition of the Lima Art Museum.
