Dympna of Gheel

Dympna of Gheel is a work of art created in 1550 by Adriaen Collaert. It's a print, measuring 0.219 meters wide and 0.176 meters high. The print depicts a scene from the legend of Saint Dympna. In the foreground, Dympna kneels before a makeshift altar, while a priest-like figure is being attacked by a man wielding a sword. Two soldiers stand nearby, one holding a shield. In the background, a church is visible, and figures can be seen moving along a path. The scene is set in a wooded area. The artwork is held in the Prints Department of the Royal Library of Belgium.
