Transit of the Virgin

Transit da Virgem is an oil painting on wood painted by Cristóvão de Figueiredo about 1525-40 and which is currently in the National Museum of Ancient Art in Lisbon.

The painting represents the episode of the Christian tradition of the Death of the Virgin.The composition of a great dramatism reflected in the puncpunctured faces of the apostles presents a certain disorder resulting from the way their heads are arranged.
