The Cemetery Gates

The Cemetery Gates is a painting by the Russian painter Marc Chagall in 1917. This oil on canvas depicts the entrance to a Jewish cemetery. Donated by Ida Chagall in 1984, it is part of the collections of the National Museum of Modern Art, in Paris, and has been on deposit at the Museum of Art and History of Judaism, also in Paris, since November 9, 1998.
