"Naturshchyky" is a picture of taras Shevchenko's work, made by him in St. Petersburg. Tinted paper, coal, chalk. Size 76 × 57. At the bottom left pencil author's signature: Shevchenko, on the right side with a red pencil number: 5.
Number 5 is an assessment of the work. Grades of classwork were indicated by numbers - from the first (for the best work) to the last, by the number of students.
According to the Central State Historical Archives of St. Petersburg, T. G. Shevchenko received 5 numbers for drawings from nature on academic exams in June 1840, in December 1840 and in January 1841. Since there is no information on which of the three works this figure of Shevchenko is, the time of its execution is determined within the deadlines of these exams.
It is stored in the National Museum of Taras Shevchenko. Previous places of preservation: St. Petersburg Academy of Arts, All-Russian Academy of Arts.
