Femmes au bain

The artwork Femmes au bain is a print made by Suzanne Valadon in 1893. It is currently in the collection of the National Gallery of Art.

The print, rendered in sepia tones, depicts two nude female figures engaged in the act of bathing. On the right, a woman stands facing away from the viewer, her right arm raised as she holds a cloth behind her. Her left arm hangs loosely by her side. On the left, another woman bends over, her back arched and her head obscured by her long, flowing hair. She appears to be drying herself with a cloth on the ground in front of her. The figures are drawn with bold, confident lines that emphasize their curves and musculature. The background is largely undefined, with a few faint lines suggesting the contours of the room. The artist's signature and the date of creation are visible in the bottom right corner of the print.
