The Portrait of Joseph Ingres, father of the artist is a painting painted in 1804 by Jean-Auguste-Dominique Ingres, which represents his father, Jean-Marie-Joseph Ingres painter like him. The painting is painted during a visit that Joseph Ingres made to his son who was then residing in Paris. The painting is marked by the style of portraits of the eighteenth century. An engraving reproduction by Réveil, appearing in the work Works of J. A. Ingres engraved with a line on steel (1851), shows the portrait framed at knee level, the model being seated and leaning on an armchair, which, according to Camesasca, suggests that it could have been cut later to keep only the cropped part at shoulder level; but for Ternois it would rather be the reproduction of a drawn study. The painting belongs to the collections of the Ingres Museum of Montauban (inventory MI.867.67).
