Contradiction: Oberon and Titania

1854 - Painting

"Contradiction: Oberon and the Titanic" is a picture painted by Richard Dadd during the years 1854-1858. A Midsummer Night's Dream is extracted from the Shakesperian staged game (act. 2 sc. 1) where Oberon demands the Indian slave while Titania opposes him. Dadd painted this picture at the time of his murder in Bethlehem in the London Hospital. Today, he owns a private board.
