Andromeda

1869 - Painting - 1.727m x 2.565m

Andromeda is a painting by Gustave Doré, painted in 1869.

It refers to the character from Greek mythology, Andromeda, the figure exposed naked tied to a rock before Perseus saved her.

In 1862, Gustave Doré had already made an engraving of the same subject but it represented the arrival of Perseus preparing to defeat the sea monster.
