Love at the fountain of life

Love at the source of life, also called The lovers at the source of life is an oil painting on canvas (72 x 100cm) by Giovanni Segantini, completed in 1896 and kept in the Gallery of Modern Art in Milan.

The work was commissioned by the Russian prince Jussopoff of St. Petersburg.

The canvas is signed and dated at the bottom right with the inscription in red "G. Segantini - Maloja 1896".

He arrived at the Gallery in 1955 as a legate.
