The Nativity of Jesus is an oil painting on canvas (260x150 cm) by Lattanzio Gambara, datable to immediately after the mid-sixteenth century and preserved in the church of Saints Faustino and Giovita in Brescia.
Generally considered, but not unanimously, one of his best works, it is found in the church of Saints Faustino and Giovita in Brescia, on the second right altar, dedicated precisely to the Nativity of Jesus. Initially, however, the altarpiece was to be placed on the main altar of the church. The pictorial style of the painting is to be ascribed to a late Renaissance art, with already evident references to the mannerism introduced in the Brescia area by the works of Giulio Romano.
