Goethe portrait by Heinrich Christoph Kolbe

The Goethe portrait by Heinrich Christoph Kolbe from 1822 is the first of several portraits painted by the Düsseldorf painter Heinrich Christoph Kolbe of the poet Johann Wolfgang von Goethe. It is considered the only portrait of Goethe in old age that depicts him almost realistically. The painting is owned by the Klassik Stiftung Weimar and is exhibited by the Goethe National Museum in Weimar.
