Bertaud's Pine

Bertaud's Pine

Date unknown - Painting

Hi everyone, my name is Isabella! Today, we're going to look at a painting called "Bertaud's Pine." It was painted by a man named Paul Signac, and it's really special. nn Do you know what a pine tree is? It's a big tree with lots of needles and cones. In this painting, the pine tree is HUGE! It's so tall that it almost touches the top of the canvas. nn Now, look really closely at the painting. Do you see how the colors are made up of tiny little dots? That's because Paul Signac used a special technique called Pointillism. Instead of mixing colors together, he used tiny dots of pure color, like a puzzle! nn What colors do you see in the painting? Can you find any yellow, orange, green, or blue? nn

Let's imagine we're standing right there in the painting. Can you feel the warm sunshine on your skin? The pine tree looks so inviting, doesn't it? It's like it's reaching out its branches to give us a big hug! nn On the left side of the painting, we can see some smaller trees called cypress trees. They're much thinner than the pine tree, and they're a beautiful shade of green. nn In the distance, we can see a city. It looks kind of hazy, like it's far away. What do you think it would be like to live in that city? nn

Paul Signac was a very talented artist, and he loved to paint pictures of nature. He wanted people to feel happy and peaceful when they looked at his paintings. nn What do you think about "Bertaud's Pine"? Do you like it? What's your favorite part? nn Thank you for joining me today! I hope you had fun learning about this amazing painting.
