Lioness

Eugène Delacroix's "Lioness," painted in 1832, hangs before you at the Ny Carlsberg Glyptotek. This powerful animal, rendered in shades of brown and white against a pale blue sky, dominates the canvas, measuring 0.315 meters wide and 0.235 meters tall. Notice how Delacroix uses light and shadow to create a sense of depth, making the lioness appear almost lifelike as if she might step off the canvas and into the room with us.
