The Disrobing of Christ

El Expolio, in versions on panel are three works made by El Greco on this medium. In the catalogue raisonné of works by this painter, made by the specialist Harold Wethey they appear with the numbers 80, 81 and 82. They are works of small dimensions and little known, but nevertheless (especially the first) they are important for two reasons:

are considered autographs, and one of the first two could be the outline for The Plunder (El Greco, Toledo) of the Sacristy of the Cathedral of Toledo

they are works of painting on panel, which is very rare in the pictorial corpus of El Greco in his Spanish stage. [1]​
