Verdun

Verdun is a painting by the Franco-Swiss painter Félix Vallotton in 1917. This oil on canvas is a battle painting depicting the Battle of Verdun. It is kept at the Musée de l'Armée in Paris.

This work has the subtitle Painting of war interpreted, black, blue and red colored projections, devastated grounds, clouds of gas. It is a synthesis of Vallotton's impressions of war, a pictorial experience.
