The Massacre of the Innocents is a chisel engraving and a pen drawing, brown ink and brown wash on paper, made by Master JG. Engraving and drawing are different versions of the same scene. The engraving exists in several copies of which 7 are known, preserved in Hamburg, Harvard, London at the British Museum, Vienna and 3 in Paris at the BnF in the Department of Prints and Photography, in the private collection of E. de Rothschild and in another private collection. On the contrary, the drawing is known only in a single version preserved in Paris at the BnF.
