The Last Judgment is an oil painting by the Dutch painter Ernst Roelofsz. Maler and was painted in Renaissance style in 1545. The painting is part of the collection of the Stedelijk Museum Kampen. The painting comes from the Kamperse school and is located above the alderman's chair in the Schepenzaal in the former Town Hall of Kampen.
The painting shows the story Day of Judgment from the Bible. The figure in the middle of the top row is Jesus, surrounded by celestials and above him his puttos or cherubs. Furthermore, on the left side of the painting are the believers chosen by Jesus, next to an air bridge to heaven and an angel who keeps them on the right side, and on the right a burning world where Satan pulls on some unbelievers. Furthermore, a temple and parts of a city are on fire. This is an allegory for the aldermen who need to administer fair justice; they themselves will also be judged on the day of judgment.
