Love's Greeting

Love's Greeting, a painting by Dante Gabriel Rossetti, dated 1861. 



The artwork depicts a scene with three figures: a winged angel playing a psaltery, and a pair of lovers embracing. The angel, dressed in flowing white robes, stands to the left, holding a psaltery. The lovers are centrally positioned; the woman, in a dark blue robe, leans towards the man, who kneels before her in a dark blue-grey garment. 



The background features a woven fence-like structure and some flowering plants, including sunflowers. The overall color palette is muted, with dark greens, blues, and browns dominating. The painting is framed by a dark border with inscriptions in Italian, which appear to be blessings or invocations. The painting's dimensions are 0.61 meters wide and 0.57 meters high. It is housed in the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum.
