This article develops the Opera section of the main article Nicolae Grigorescu.O flower between flowers is a painting made by the Romanian painter Nicolae Grigorescu. It was made in 1870, it is signed and dated in the lower right part of it: Grigorescu 1870. The appearance of this work of art was recorded by V.A. Urechia and Constanța Dunca in the press, in March of that year. The contemporary art critics considered that through the critical comments that the two made, they coagulated the affective resources of the painter, the moment of launching the painting in Alexius Gebauer's store of musical instruments on the Mogoșoaiei Bridge, constituting a turning point in nicolae Grigorescu's artistic creation.
Being sentimental, Grigorescu wanted to clean up not only his own affective urges, but also the needs of the class he had from whose ranks all the art enthusiasts came out. Thus, Grigorescu had to choose to represent a miserable reality of the life of the Romanian peasantry and to portray in a pastoral way the existence of a poorly dressed, hungry population, who lived in huts. The painting fully responded to the demands of Constantin I. Stăncescu, who officially claimed that "... art must make us forget the miseries of life."
From the moment Nicolae Grigorescu painted the superficial - A flower between flowers, one can follow in his work two main currents. One, the one described, probably due to an intuition that has permanently haunted Grigorescu in his desire to make paintings that would please the public consuming art, and the other is the one in which he will represent in his most sincere way the seriousness of the chosen subjects, like the painting of the Hearth from Rucăr.
