Penitent Magdalene is an 1881 painting by Jean-Jacques Henner. It depicts a nude woman, possibly Mary Magdalene, seated and looking upward. Her long, reddish-brown hair cascades down her back. She is draped in a teal-colored garment around her lower body. The setting is dark, with the figure illuminated by a light source from above and to the side. The painting measures 0.725 meters in width and 1.05 meters in height. It is part of the collection of the Iris & B. Gerald Cantor Center for Visual Arts.
