View of Venice (on the canal)

1901 - 1905 - Painting

Hello everyone! My name is Isabella, and I'm so excited to explore this amazing painting with you all today! nn We're looking at a painting called "View of Venice (on the canal)." Can you say "Venice"? Venice is a city in Italy, and it's built on water! That's why it's called the "Floating City!" Cool, right? nn This painting shows us what Venice looked like a long time ago. See all the boats? Those are called gondolas, and people used them to travel around the city, just like we use cars and buses! nn What colors do you see in the painting? I see lots of blue and green! That's because the artist, Anders Zorn, wanted to show us how bright and sunny it was in Venice. nn Can you spot the people in the gondolas? It looks like they're having a great time, doesn't it? I wonder where they're going! nn Let's take a closer look at the buildings. They're all different colors and shapes, aren't they? That's what makes Venice so special and unique! nn What else do you notice about the painting?
