Noah's Ark

The Noah's Ark or Restauratio Humana inlay is part of the inlays of the choir of the Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore, and is visible to the faithful because, with three others, it faces the central nave. The inlaid is composed of the depictive part of the biblical account of the Great Flood taken from the book of Genesis 6.5-8.20 and a cover that must protect it from the wear and tear of time and which was removed during the most important religious services. It was also the first created by the young Capoferri.
