The Sphinx

The Sphinx is a painting by Giuseppe Pellizza da Volpedo from 1887.

The work is signed and dated at the bottom right "Pellizza / 1887". On the back, there is an autograph inscription of the artist's daughter: "Nerina Pellizza Del Conte" and the labels of the Galleria Pesaro, Milan and the Galleria Bolzani, Milan.

The work was exhibited in 1920 in Milan at the Galleria Pesaro, in 1941 in Milan at the Galleria Bolzani and in 1983 in Milan at the Circolo della Stampa.
