Femme fellah portant son enfant is an oil on canvas made in Cairo by the French painter Émile Vernet-Lecomte (1821-1900) in 1864. It measures 116 cm by 78 cm. This work is kept at the municipal museum of La Roche-sur-Yon.
A pupil of his uncle Horace Vernet and Cogniet, Émile Vernet-Lecomte regularly sent works marked by orientalist taste to the Salon from 1843 to 1882.
Femme fellah carrying her child, presented at the Salon of 1864, is part of this trend with this young woman in her black djellaba in front of pyramids carrying her child on the shoulder.
