Cross in the Mountains

Cross in the Mountain (German: Kreuz im Gebirge) is an oil on canvas by Caspar David Friedrich painted in 1822. It represents a cross on a mountain. It is a Protestant cross because Friedrich was a Protestant. This painting is now kept in the Friedenstein Castle Museum in Gotha.

Friedrich painted in 1808 another work entitled Kreuz im Gebirge, also known as the Tetschener Altar.
