
Moonlight (German: Küstenlandschaft bei Mondschein) is a painting by the German Romantic painter Caspar David Friedrich.
Since 2000, following a donation from the Société des Amis du Louvre, it has been preserved and exhibited at the Louvre Museum, in Paris, at the Department of Paintings, Aile Richelieu, 2nd floor, room E.
Bord de mer au clair de lune is the second work by Caspar David Friedrich to enter the collections of the Louvre Museum after the acquisition in 1975 by the Museum of Ravens on a Tree.
The painting was painted at the end of August 1818, in Dresden, where Friedrich resided.
