And he had a heart!, also known as Anatomy of the heart or The autopsy, is a painting made by Enrique Simonet with dimensions of 177 x 291 centimeters.
Simonet painted the work in 1890 during his stay in Rome, as he went on a pensioner to study painting between 1888 and 1892 at the Spanish Academy of Fine Arts in Rome. Subsequently, the work passed to the Museum of Modern Art (now disappeared and unified to the Prado Museum), who gave it on February 13, 1931 to the Museum of Fine Arts of Malaga, current Museum of Malaga, and there it has remained since then.
