The Ideal City (also called "Urbino panel" to differentiate it from similar paintings) is a work preserved and exhibited in the National Gallery of the Marches, located in the Ducal Palace of Urbino. It is a tempera painting on wood of 67.5 × 239.5 cm made between 1480 and 1490 by one or more unknown authors, which was supposed to be Piero della Francesca, then Luciano Laurana, then Francesco di Giorgio Martini, or Melozzo da Forlì or Fra Carnevale, Giuliano da Sangallo, painters and architects who frequented the court of Frederick III of Montefeltro.
